In February, the director of the Optoelectronics Laboratory, Professor Esteban Vera, traveled to Japan to meet with colleagues at different institutions in the country.
Dr. Esteban Vera was invited by several professors to present and share the latest research and advances we have been working on at the PUCV Optoelectronics Laboratory.
Initially, he spoke at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, where he was invited by Professor Yasuhiro Awatsuji from the Faculty of Engineering and Electronics, and then at Kobe University, alongside Professor Osamu Matoba, who specializes in sensing and multidimensional optical imaging based on information optics.
Additionally, in both instances, he had the opportunity to visit the research laboratories of each professor.
Finally, he visited the University of Tokyo, where he was welcomed by Professor Horisaki and our laboratory’s doctoral candidate, Felipe Guzmán, who was in a research internship at the institution. There, he got to know the Information Photonics Laboratory, where they study computational imaging, computational photography, and computational optical sensing and imaging.
The trip was a great opportunity to strengthen relations with Japanese researchers, showcase what we are doing in Chile, and visit Felipe before he finished his internship.
