We celebrated the 2023 Science Festival on Optolab PUCV

The Optoelectronics Laboratory (Optolab) of the School of Electrical Engineering of the PUCV participated in the Science Festival organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation.

This scientific festival took place at the beginning of October and Optolab represented the Faculty of Engineering of the PUCV in the only activity carried out by the University in the center of Valparaíso.

The laboratory researchers opened their doors to the entire community, giving a visit and tour of our facilities to three rounds of visitors. We presented the equipment, revealing the basic principles of the study of light and its application, thus explaining the research and awarded projects we are working on.

Our laboratory is led by EIE’s academic Esteban Vera, who is currently researching and developing seven projects that have been awarded by the Chilean Research and Development Agency (ANID).

People of all ages and from different places in the region attended, including students from both PUCV and other Universities, even two visitors from the Metropolitan Region.

The scientific disseminator of our Optoelectronics Laboratory, Israel Sanhueza, comments on the initiative “We prepared an immersive and pedagogical experience for our visitors, where they could learn science in a very entertaining way,” he explained.

It was a great experience to publicize the research carried out in the laboratory, bringing science closer to the community. In the future, more activities will be carried out that will link the School of Electrical Engineering with different sectors of society and the team recommends keeping an eye on our social networks Instagram and Twitter to find out more.
