Felipe Guzmán has been a part of our Optoelectronics Laboratory since 2017 and is the first PUCV PhD in Electrical Engineering program graduate from Optolab.
On July 9th, Felipe defended his presentation titled Coded Aperture Strategies for High-Speed Video Sensing, showcasing innovative research that marks a significant advancement in video sensing. He developed this work over the four years of his PhD, primarily during his internship in Arizona.
In addition to being one of the first members of our laboratory, Felipe was part of the inaugural class of the PhD in Electrical Engineering program at PUCV’s School of Electrical Engineering.
The examination committee included Dr. Ryoichi Horisaki from the University of Tokyo, Dr. Pablo Meza from the University of La Frontera, and Dr. Gabriel Hermosilla from PUCV.
Dr. Horisaki, Felipe’s advisor during his last internship in the Information Photonics Laboratory at the University of Tokyo, traveled from Japan specifically to participate in the event.
Also in attendance were the director of the PhD program, Mauricio Rodríguez, Felipe’s advisor and our director, Esteban Vera, along with his family and colleagues from the Optoelectronics Laboratory.
With a score of 7.0 in his presentation, which is the highest score, Felipe Guzmán became the first member of Optolab to receive a PhD in Electrical Engineering from PUCV.
We congratulate Dr. Felipe Guzmán for his outstanding presentation and excellent dissertation defense, to which we know he dedicated a lot of hard work and effort.
Our best wishes to you on this professional research path that is just beginning!
